I am very happy with how my songs turned out. I think I became a lot more comfortable using Ableton with each song, and my production on it evoked influences of Massive Attack pretty well. This was the aspect I was most scared about, as I had doubts about my ability to do this alone, but I managed to get into the zone with the mixing on it.
In terms of my lyrical writing, I feel that I released myself of anxiety and second-guessing which helped to make the words more descriptive with imagery. In my opinion, I feel I have somewhat improved in practice, but moreso in the process and mentality of lyric writing.
Doing the writing alone was daunting but actually pretty refreshing, and really helped me to realise what I bring to the table as a songwriter – improving my mental health significantly. I had somewhat forgotten what it was like to make art just for myself, so this was a great experience.
Additionally, allowing myself to indulge in the influence of the 90s / 00s furthered this feeling, making me want to continue pursuing projects like this in my spare time.
However, I would have liked to have done at least one more to round it out as an EP. I am also not entirely sure I stayed away from the club beats, but that might be simply a product of me being anxious about how this will be received.

I feel like this project went really well. I got to express myself in a way I haven't got to before with my music, and learned a lot about myself as a writer and of my tastes. In particular, I feel my lyrical writing has definitely improved and grown in maturity / speed. I'm less precious about what I'm doing which is nice, because I had a tendency to overthink what I was doing to make it immediately perfect - a mentality that actually hindered me ever making the art I wanted to make.
